What is Gucci Cosmos?
Following its successful debut in Shanghai in April, the immersive travelling exhibition will touch down in London on 11 October 2023.
The exhibition is a celebration of Gucci’s rich and diverse legacy and a glimpse into its future vision.
Gucci Cosmos is divided into nine immersive installations, each telling a different story of Gucci’s evolution and innovation. The exhibition was envisioned and designed by contemporary British artist Es Devlin and curated by Italian fashion theorist Maria Luisa Frisa.
It features a collection of the most iconic and timeless designs from its 102-year history, as well as some rare and unique pieces that have shaped the brand’s identity and influence over the years. Including, Gucci bags and luggage dating back to the mid-20th century and pieces by former creative directors Tom Ford, Frida Giannini, Alessandro Michele, and new creative director Sabato De Sarno.
London greatly influenced Guccio Gucci, leading him to establish his artisanal luggage workshop in Florence in 1921. Some special pieces from the Gucci collection were chosen for the exhibition as a tribute to the city.
In 2024, Gucci Cosmos will visit Paris and then proceed to Kyoto. The exhibit will then feature new items from the Gucci archive, reflecting cultural relevance to each city.
