YKWU Digital x Silvia Acién: How to become a regenerative knitwear designer 🌿
Since graduating knitwear designer Silvia Acien went on to win the LVMH Green Trail Award and Framework Knitters Award. Training at Vivienne Westwood and then setting up her own label Acien, Silvia’s committed to using regenerative practices such as using natural fibres and natural dyes to produce luxury knitwear. Silvia’s process looks closely at working collaboratively with suppliers to produce earth friendly garments.

YKWU (You Can Knit with Us) Digital is the online extension of Colèchi’s monthly in person knit club YKWU. The series goes beyond the physical practice of knitting and invites industry creatives and experts to exchange knowledge and insights on the commercial side of knit.
ABOUT SILVI ACIÉN
Silvia Acién is a Spanish Andalusian designer who graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA in knitwear. Silvia is the founder of luxury fashion label ACIÉN which has won awards including the Maison/0 x LVMH Green Trial Award and the Frameworks Knitters Award. Silvia has also presented her work at London Fashion Week and The Future Fabric Expo.
Silvia comes from a rural part of Spain and growing up at her parent’s farm influenced her way of observing her surroundings. Respecting nature is one of the most important parts of Silvia’s life and she tries to bring this into every piece of clothing she creates, using natural and regenerative elements.
