Break Free is leading the discussion on mental health, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders within the fashion industry and beyond. Every runway season, we host a fashion showcase to have mental health and recovery take center stage during New York Fashion Week.

This season we have some incredible designers showcasing with us from around the US including: Tyrone Chablis of Chablis Designs, LadyCat, Big Man Culture, Me by Lee Boutique, Dmarxx Design, and At Night We Prey.

Every season, we invite activists to walk the runway and showcase their designs to spread the message that there is life beyond recovery.

A majority of the proceeds from this showcase will go to the Break Free Foundation , which is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to assist those seeking treatment for a substance use disorder through attending a rehabilitation and outpatient center.

New York Fashion Week Powered by Break Free will be held on Monday, February 12th. We invite all attendees to participate in a live art installation. There will be white butterflies where you can write a letter to your past self or honor the memory of a loved one lost to suicide or an overdose.

Mocktail Hour @ 6pm

Mocktail Hour will offer a sampling of all of your favorite mocktails from brands like Gruvi, Margaret Joseph’s Soiree, and more, powered by Mocktail Mart and Gemlife Collective. This is an opportunity for all attendees to network with fellow movers and shakers of the fashion industry.

After-Party @ 8:30pm

The after-party is presented by Mocktail Mart and Gemlife Collective as they serve up some incredible dry cocktails, an opportunity to walk the red carpet and be interviewed and photographed.

About Our Designers

This season we have some incredible designers showcasing with us from around the US including: Tyrone Chablis of Chablis Designs, LadyCat, Big Man Culture, Me by Lee Boutique, Dmarxx Design, and At Night We Prey.

Chablis Designs

Tyrone Chablis is one of the architects of the thriving New Jersey fashion scene. A major influence on the local fashion culture, for more than thirty years, Chablis has been a fixture of the tristate area fashion scene. He plays many roles – from commentator to show producer to master tailor to his most prominent and passionate pursuit – designing and making fabulous clothes.

Most notable is Chablis’ strong commitment to cultivating and supporting the aspirations of emerging models and designers through his ongoing collaboration with Just Us Teenz, a nonprofit dedicated to providing youth with opportunities in the arts. When you wear Chablis Designs you feel the freedom of your own personal style and fashion choice.

LadyCat’s mission is to inspire, educate, and advocate for mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorder awareness. All of our clothing is size-inclusive and aims to spread a message of hope. We strive to be advocates within the mental health space as well as the recovery community by continuing this ongoing national conversation openly and honestly.

Mental health is something that has profoundly impacted the life of our founder, Alexandra Nyman. It was such a surreal experience to present “Therapy” during NYFW back in 2019. Many people came up to Alexandra after the show to tell her about how mental health has impacted their lives. It was one of the most humbling experiences of her life to be able to share these stories with all of you.

Big Man Culture

Big Man Culture (BMC) is a Lifestyle and Custom Consulting Company to help our clients find their self-wealth and purpose through lifestyle and fashion. From custom clothing to image consulting or lifestyle to life balance, our goal is to transform each client’s vision through one BIG Experience!

Dmarxx Design

Dmarxx Design is a hand-crafted leather bag company that was birthed in Brooklyn, NY, and created in Connecticut. Our bags illustrate where edginess meets elegance and are made for all to wear. The Canteen Clutch showcases Devan’s signature style: classic structures re-interpreted. Each Canteen Clutch is fashioned from 100% genuine leather with a super-soft feel. The exposed stitching is hand-sewn with a sturdy cord, adding both detail and durability. In addition, the unique self-closing feature transforms each bag, into a fashion-meets-function accessory you never have to put down.
