In 1738, Fortnum & Mason, ideally located in London for travelers heading west, set out to create easily portable food for long journeys. Among their innovations, Mr. Fortnum and his staff devised the ingenious idea of wrapping a hard-boiled egg in sausage meat and coating it in fried breadcrumbs, thus inventing the world’s first Scotch Egg. Tasty, filling, and portable, it was as popular then as it is today.
In this masterclass, you will get hands-on learning how to create our signature pork Scotch Egg, as well as a vegetarian version, before sitting down to enjoy the fruits of your labour with a few Fortnum’s accompaniments.
