Fortnum’s x Kew Gardens: Fungi & Wellbeing

The second of three co-curated panel talks with Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, looking at mushrooms in ancient wisdom and modern science

Join us for the second of our three panel talks co-curated with Kew Gardens as part of our Focus on Fungi season in the Food & Drink Studio.

In this talk, specialists from various fields will discuss edible and medicinal mushrooms in both ancient wisdom and modern science.

Join for a fascinating evening of conversation delving into the world of mushroom health products, hallucinogens, pharmaceuticals and more – from unbelievable benefits to bogus claims.

Panel includes:

  • Dr Rupy Aujla, doctor, TV personality, author and founder of the popular website, app and podcast ‘The Doctor’s Kitchen’, which strives to inspire and educate everybody about the beauty of food and medicinal effects of eating well.
  • Tim Spector is a Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College London, director of the Twins UK study, Scientific co-founder at ZOE, and one of the world’s leading researcher
  • Tom Baxter, founder of The Bristol Fungarium, producing the UK’s first organic certified medicinal mushrooms
  • Ester Gaya, Senior Research Leader in Comparative Fungal Biology at Kew Gardens, who have a strong track record in fungal diversity research and are home to the largest fungarium in the world, holding over 1.25 million fungal specimens.

Ticket includes 3 canapés and a welcome drink.
