In the Food & Drink Studio this season, we celebrate ‘Rebels & Misfits’: the risk takers, the trend setters, those that have overcome adversity and broken the mould – both past and present.
Joining us in April is Nathaniel Mortley (aka @NattyCanCook on social media). A 30-year-old London lad, Natty grew up in Peckham with acute ADHD. His hyperactivity erupted into a sequence of bad behaviour that eventually resulted in a prison sentence at HMP Brixton – where he ended up cheffing with The Clink.
In a short space of time, Natty has gone from cooking for his fellow inmates to cooking for big industry names at cool Peckham pub, The GreyHound, earning him the title of the ‘One to Watch’ in The UK’s Top New Restaurants awards.
His story and fine dining Caribbean food have gained him an impressive social media presence too, with almost 50,000 followers on Instagram and 30,000 on TikTok.
“British people think they know Caribbean food, but they think of it like Auntie food from a hole in the wall,” he says. “I want to be the person that takes Caribbean food and gets its first Michelin star.”
Join us for a very special supper club where you will be able to taste for yourself why this young man has carved a deserving space for himself in the industry.
