* UPDATE- PART 4 LIVE WORKSHOP HAS NOW ENDED*
IF YOU PURCHASE THIS TICKET, YOU WILL RECEIVE THE WORKSHOP RECORDING + PROJECT FILES FROM PART 4 ONLY.
This Workshop series is designed to demonstrate how Clo3D can be used to draft and grade a professional pattern and create corresponding 3D prototypes whilst saving time, money and resources throughout the sampling process.
Many designers who are interested in learning Clo3D can be overwhelmed by what the program has to offer specifically for intimates. The goal of this workshop is to show how the 2D pattern drafting side of the program works in conjunction with the 3D side. Your facilitators, Trudy and Sofia will break down all the essential tools and best practices, in line with industry standards. They will also discuss efficient ways of working in the program and how it can be leveraged for professional garment development.
This Spring workshop series has 4 parts, each is 2 hours long and covers a different stage of the workflow.
Part 1: Drafting the 2D pattern (one size)- Thurs 27th April 12-2pm BST
Part 2: Taking the 2D pattern and turning into a 3D prototype- Thurs 4th May 12-2pm BST
Part 3: Grading the 2D pattern (6 sizes)- Thurs 11th May 12-2pm BST
Part 4: Create a size set of 3D avatars and a graded prototype- Thurs 18th May 12-2pm BST *LIVE WORKSHOP NOW ENDED*
You are welcome to join just one part of this workshop series, multiple parts or the full 4 part series. They have been designed to work together and seperately.
This ticket is for Part 4 ONLY. *LIVE WORKSHOP NOW ENDED*
A note about your expert facilitators:
Trudy Gardner and Sofía Luzon were brought together through a love of lingerie design and a strong belief in the utility of Clo3D. 3D technology has the potential to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the production process across the fashion industry and they have focused their efforts on intimate apparel; both having experienced a vacuum of shared knowledge when it comes to this particular field. Over the past several months, Sofia and Trudy have been developing complimentary online courses to help fill the void. Through their experiences they have learned that, next to consistent practice, collaboration and sharing of information are the best way to improve quickly. There are many paths to a common end result, and working with others trying to solve the same problem helps us all learn potential best practices. Learning from the mistakes of others is the best way to avoid making them all yourself!
Through her professional experience in patternmaking and teaching, Sofía has learned how to leverage the tools in Clo3D for efficient and professional pattern development. Trudy has very quickly excelled in developing her 3D skills for sample making. Both have an insatiable desire to continuously improve their practice and they are eager to connect with others who are driven by the same curiosity.
Part 4 will cover:
– How to create a size set of avatars (6 sizes)
– Apply a graded 2D pattern to the corresponding avatar size
– Demonstration of how this is useful for design and development; evaluate fit and silhouette, compare the grade of the garment to ensure consistent proportions of the style are maintained across all sizes.
Part 4 participants will receive:
– The final completed 3D project file created by Trudy as a .zprj. including all graded avatars
– A video recording of the session, which can be downloaded and reviewed on your own time.
If the trainee would like to participate the following is required:
– Computer with Clo installed (free 30 day trial available)
– Mouse with scroll wheel
– Second monitor to follow along with instruction
The workshop is open to all individuals with a curiosity about how Clo3D can be used for fashion design development. Complete beginners are encouraged to review the free basic training provided by the Clo3D Youtube Channel and some Intimate Apparel or fashion industry design experience is also recommended to get the most value from this Workshop series.
The training is designed to be interactive so participants can follow along with the exercise in real time and ask questions. However, if the trainee’s preference is to watch and practice in their own time (or can’t make the live session), all sessions will be recorded and a link to access them will be sent out after the workshop. Participants are encouraged to further practice the material learned in each part in their own time, between workshops to get the most out of the program.
There is also the opportunity to join the Intimate Apparel Technical Collective in the GROW tier, to further share and collaborate with professional peers learning 3D for Intimate Apparel on our dedicated Slack group.
